Meet Mrs. Steckel!
I am a proud member of the Northern Lehigh community. My husband, Paul, is a Slatington native, but I am a southern transplant since 1987. We have two wonderful children who are both Northern Lehigh graduates. Kevin is a senior at Penn State, and Gwen will be a junior at Lafayette College in Easton.
I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with both Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. After nine years of classroom experience in Texas and some terrific years of substituting here, I was thrilled to formally continue my teaching career at Northern Lehigh in 1989. I called Peters Elementary home for many years, but since reconfiguration I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the fantastic teachers of Slatington Elementary. It is a rewarding experience to be part of our third grade team.

When not concentrating on school work, I absolutely love to read! I also enjoy trying out new recipes (especially when the ingredients include chocolate), and I have even tried my hand at quilting. During the summers I am a major Phillie fan and during the fall, I love my Bulldog football. On Sunday afternoons, however, I am cheering for those Dallas Cowboys! Wahoo! I also have a vast collection of my favorite little birds, puffins.

Each year, I have one main goal. I always try to make sure that the students in my classroom have the most positive third grade experience possible. We work together and we have fun together throughout the year. I always strive to make the year memorable, as well as academically and socially rewarding for each and every student.
