6^th Grade Homework Policy

     Dear Parents,

            The sixth grade faculty would like to share our homework procedure.  At this grade level, many students become careless about homework responsibilities.  This procedure has been used in the past and has been responsible for improving completion of assignments.  Therefore, this plan will remain in place for the 2010/2011 school year and begins September 7, 2010, the first day of the marking period.

            The homework procedure consists of the following:

• When a student has missed 3 homework assignments (per teacher, per marking period), a parent will be notified by a letter, which is to be signed and returned.
• After 5 missed assignments, the teacher will assign after school detention for the student.  A letter will be sent to the parent informing them of the date of detention.

Homework is a necessary tool of the learning process, as it is needed to reinforce the concepts learned in school.  Please help us stress the importance of homework to your children.  The sixth grade teachers thank you for your supporting your child in his/her education.
