Science Curriculum

Science is divided into two main sections of curriculum. Half of the year the students use the textbook and packets to learn about science. We will use the McGraw-Hill science curriculum.
The other half of the year, we use kits from the Science: It's Elementary company. These kits give the students a chance to work with science hands on. They keep an official journal and get to act like a real scientist.
Textbook topics to be covered:
Animals Needs
Animal Classification
Features of Living Things
Needs of Plants
Plant's Life Cycle
Motion and Speed
Forces
Simple Machines
Science: It's Elementary (SIE) Topics:
Water
Ideas and Inventions
**Every spring, Slatington holds a Science and Technology showcase. Families and friends are invited to come and see what the students have been working on all year. The students run stations and show the experiments that they performed throughout their time in third grade. You'll get more information closer to the event.
